Temperance Societies in Victorian Bristol - a talk by Alan Clarke

Alan Clarke has lived and worked in Bristol for over forty years, as a student, an insurance clerk, a trade union official and and a teacher of English as a foreign language. His first degree was in English with London University in the 1980s; since the 1990s he has been a long-term student with the Open University, most recently gaining his M.A. in history for work on the temperance movement.
Our Bristol meetings are held at the BAWA Leisure Centre, Southmead Road, Bristol, BS34 7RG on the second Monday of the month from September to June unless otherwise notified. Ample free on-site parking is available. The presentation begins at 7.30pm although the bookstall, storage materials and a helpdesk are available from 7pm. We also hold online meetings using the Zoom video conferencing service. No meetings are held in July or August.
