Westbury-on-Trym: a walk with Richard Stride

Westbury-on-Trym was once a thriving village, but now subsumed into the city of Bristol, this evening walk takes a look at some of the fascinating history of the area. Bristol in the Civil War Bristol was attacked twice during the English Civil War. This tour will trace the course of the first attack, by Prince Rupert and his Royalist forces, in July 1643. There is a surprising amount of extant evidence hiding in plain sight and the route will trace the course of the defences as we cover the fast-moving events of the day.
